Transactor Live at Insurance Dialogue

In August 2004 Insurance Dialogue Limited (‘IDL’) of Ferndown, Dorset, selected Transactor for the pilot phase of a new venture designed to offer a radical range of personal lines insurance products to the retired and over-fifties market. IDL Managing Director David Holden set tight deadlines, with a live date of October 2004, barely 8 weeks after placing the order. With two weeks taken up by documentation at the beginning, and another two weeks required for testing at the end, this left TGSL with about four weeks to build a bespoke system.

Inspite of the fact that TGSL had several major projects already underway, it was able to respond to the challenge, and the system went live on October 14th. Following a successful pilot phase, IDL confirmed the main order Transactor on January 14th 2005, with user numbers rising from 40 to 75 over the next two quarters. A website order was confirmed at the same time. Transactor was recently load tested by a large UK Financial Services operation to 800 concurrent users, providing good growth option for IDL over the coming years.

“We were delighted to be selected for the IDL business for a number of reasons,” confirms Ray Vincent, Managing Director TGSL. “David Holden has a great track record in establishing successful call-centre businesses. I have worked with him and Donna Cahill (Operations Executive) before, and I had no question in my mind that the pilot was going to be successful. I am pleased to say that it has exceeded everybody’s expectations.”

During the eight weeks prior to live-running of the pilot, TGSL had to build a new Transactor front-end for IDL’s panel household concept, create several complex combined household products, and create all the documentation required to support every process from prospect management, new business, policy administration and accounts to trial balance. As might be expected of IDL, it required a bespoke configuration across all processes, which was only achievable in eight weeks thanks to the Transactor Toolsets. On top of this, several different database feeds were also built, using Transactor’s EDI toolset. TGSL hosted the servers and delivered Transactor to desktops in Plymouth and Ferndown using Microsoft Terminal Services.
